Moto GP

The MotoGP held in the Sepang Racing Circuit on 19th October was a thriller of a race, with the Italian, Valentino Rossi of Yamaha scoring his 9th win of the year, with a supreme exhibition in heat wave conditions.Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso came second and third respectively.

The day started off with a race for 125cc bikes. My friends and I had got there early,so that we could get good seats, but the only other people present then were die-hard fans of bike racing. The crowds started pouring in only somewhere in the middle of the following 250cc bike race, when the races were getting more exciting.

The temperature kept climbing, along with the noise levels,as the 250cc race came to an end,and when the big boys,on their 800cc bikes finally came onto the starting grid at about 1 in the afternoon, the whole circuit was packed, the thermometer read something like 35˚C,and everyone was ready for a great race!

And what a race it was! Bikers were overtaking each other everywhere, and the start was complete pandemonium, with the racers fighting for positions. The first four bikers were ahead of the pack well into the 2nd lap,and they never faltered after that. But there was constant swapping of positions between them, and you could just about imagine the amount of concentration and skill it was costing each of the riders to keep his position. Everything was happening so fast! The crowd also got into the swing of things, and were cheering nearly all of the racers, even the one that was trailing!

21 laps later, the race was over, with Valentino Rossi the undisputed winner. He was in a league of his own, riding way ahead of all the other competitors. To show his happiness, he did a wheelie at the end of the race, coming to a stop where his team members were waiting to congratulate him.

Racing was not the only thing going on at Sepang at that day. Many of the top motorcycle brands, like Harley Davidson,Ducati and Yamaha, had set up stalls at the exhibitions area, where you could see all the bikes that they produced,as well as pose on most of them.We spent a couple of funfilled hours here, taking pictures of each other on our dream bikes, and also admiring the pretty models who were walking around! Accessories made by different biking brands could also be bought here.
